The Sybil P. Blount Scholarship Program
Sybil P. Blount was a leader in providing educational opportunities for rural Jamaicans. She created and led an outreach ministry for hundreds of children and youth in St. Catherine Parish from the years of 1996 to 2009. Her efforts expanded to provide scholarships to students to attend high school and vocational school. Many of those students from rural jamaica could not afford to attend secondary school uniforms or tuition. She galvanized her new community in Flint Michigan to sponsor students by hosting an annual fashion show and fundraising event.
Sybil raised over $50,000 over the course of 15 years for this effort. As a result, over 200 young people went on to take on careers in medicine, civil service, and even write for the Gleaner. Her impact on rural St. Catherine was tremendous.
Help us continue her legacy by making a donation today and support a student in rural Jamaica!
